Join our team as a Lifeguard and help ensure the safety of Harwich beachgoers! We're looking for responsible individuals, with strong swimming skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. This certification class is a perquisite to becoming a lifeguard.
Everyone who signs up to take the certification class must agree to work for Harwich Recreation as a lifeguard. Those who are looking for a certification class for employment elsewhere will not be accepted.
Ages 16+
IMPORTANT: If you already have a lifeguard certification, please fill out the application using the link below. Once completed, email it to rec@harwich-ma.gov.

Certification Schedule
Friday June 19th - Monday June 22nd
8:30am-5:00pm
Employment Duration
June 27th - September 1st
(accommodations can be made for those who need to leave early for school or sports)
Responsibilities
- Surveillance of swimmers
- Enforcing safety regulations
- Responding to emergencies
Requirements
- Ability to work weekends
- Intermediate to Advanced Swimming ability
- Good Communication skills and ability to work well with others
