Acknowledgment of Risk and Liability 

I acknowledge that participating in sports and recreational activities involves inherent risk of physical injury. I agree to forever release the Town of Harwich, along with its employees, officials, agents, board members, volunteers, and any individuals or organizations assisting in these programs ("the Releasees"), from any and all liability for injuries, loss, or damage to personal property that I or my child may experience while participating in activities sponsored by the Town of Harwich Recreation and Youth Department. 

Emergency Medical Consent

I grant consent for emergency medical treatment deemed necessary for myself and/or my child in the event of an injury, should I be unreachable. I understand that the Recreation Department does not provide accident nor hospitalization insurance for program participants, and I am responsible for ensuring adequate personal coverage. 

Indemnification Agreement

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Releasees against any and all legal claims and proceedings, whether asserted in the past or future, arising directly or indirectly from personal injuries or property damage resulting from participation in the Town of Harwich activities or programs. 

Participant Responsibility

I understand that the Town of Harwich encourages all participants to consider their own health, experience, and risk tolerance before engaging in any program.

Weather Cancellations and Building Closures

The Harwich Recreation Department prioritizes safety during inclement weather or emergencies. Staff will make every effort to communicate with participants via email, text and social media regarding cancellations or closures. Generally, if a building is closed, all activities scheduled within that building will also be canceled.

Photo Policy

Participants in Harwich Recreation Department programs and activities may be recorded via audio or video. This policy applies to all participants unless a written request to opt out is submitted to the department.

Waitlists

Registering for waitlisted activities is free of charge. If a spot becomes available, the department will notify participants with instructions on how to confirm the registration and complete the payment.

Voluntary Participation and Understanding of Terms

I affirm that I have read and understand Harwich Recreation Department Policies. I understand that participation is voluntary, and I am free to choose not to participate in programs nor activities at facilities that fall under the jurisdiction of Harwich Recreation. By signing this disclaimer, I affirm that I am participating with full knowledge that the Releasees will not be liable for any personal injuries or property damage incurred during these activities.
